Al-Hayat News reports that Daesh launched several attacks across Egypt this week, killing multiple police officers

On Saturday, a police officer was killed and one member of the police force was wounded by an IED explosion that targeted their vehicle during a security patrol in Al-Arish, North Sinai

The day before, another officer was killed and two others wounded during clashes with armed forces south of Cairo. According to Al-Hayat news, security sources reported that Captain Ahmed Radwan was killed in Friday evening's clashes. The Police Academy in New Cairo hosted a funeral service for Captain Radwan.

At the beginning of the week, a militant group attacked a police car in Helwan, south of Cairo, killing seven police officers. Security forces fought back and three of the attackers were also killed.

The Interior Minister, Majdi Abdelghufar, released a statement on the recent incidents, saying that the attacks on officers “add to the resolve of the Police and their determination to continue their march towards eliminating terrorism, as well as protecting the nation and the Egyptian people.”
