Daesh (ISIS) ambushed Iraqi troops in two separate attacks west of Baghdad, killing up to 50 Iraqi soldiers, a top official told the Associated Press on Saturday.
Anbar Provincial Council President Sabah al-Karhout said the ambushes happened in the provincial capital of Ramadi on Friday.
Defense Minister Khalid al-Obeidi said Saturday, during his tour of the army's Anbar command, said the troops need to be cautious to avoid any "unjustified losses."
Daesh controls a part of Anbar and in total about a third of the territory in Iraq, according to the AP.
