The crown princes of Qatar and Morocco, whose countries have been at loggerheads since Rabat's recall of its ambassador to Doha on July 18th, have held talks in Saudi Arabia.
Moroccan Crown Prince Moulay Rashid and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Jassem bin Hamad al-Thani met Saturday under the auspices of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz in the western Saudi city of Taif.
Talks beforehand between Prince Abdullah and each of his counterparts, however, concentrated on "bilateral Saudi-Qatari and Saudi-Moroccan relations and the situation on the Arab, Islamic and international scene," an official said.
Morocco's foreign ministry recalled its ambassador to Doha in response to the "political and media attitudes taken by Qatar towards Morocco."
The Moroccan media has slammed Qatar over the past weeks for voting in favor of Germany ahead of its fellow Arab state in the bidding for the 2006 World Cup.
Moroccan newspapers have also criticized the Qatar-based satellite television station Al-Jazira for broadcasting programs they dubbed "anti-Moroccan." - RIYADH (AFP)
