With the advent of summer, leading health and safety training provider and consultancy CHSS Gulf is advising construction companies to protect their workers’ health especially when the heat of the sun and the humidity level are unbearable.
Too much exposure to the sun can be life-threatening as it can lead to heat-related illnesses, such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke, while prolonged physical activity without consuming water in a humid climate can also be dangerous.
CHSS Gulf consultant and Operations Director Brenig Moore explained: “Heatstroke is more serious than heat exhaustion. Heatstroke can kill you. People with heatstroke may have seizures or go into a coma.”
Moore said that they are the training company in the region showing people on how to cope with this critical health issue through the NEBOSH International General Certificate course.
The International General Certificate has been designed for personnel such as managers, supervisors, non-safety specialists and worker representatives who have both general and specific health and safety responsibilities within the organization.
One of the objectives of the course is to identify ill health effects of physical processes of work and the environment. It also aims to recommend suitable measures to combat risks.
Moore added “The NEBOSH International General Certificate is a globally recognised qualification that meets the academic requirements for Technical Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH) and Associate Membership of the International Institute of Risk Safety Management (AIIRSM).”
