Constitutional amendment approved in Tunisia by over 99.5%

Official results of the public referendum, which took place Sunday regarding a constitutional amendment showed that 99.52% of Tunisians voted in favor against 0.48% who voted "no" in the poll.  

 

Following the counting of the votes, which lasted till Monday morning, ministry of interior sources indicated that the turnout proportion including Tunisians living abroad reached 95.59%.  

 

The ministry's statistics showed that 3,462,177 voters out of the official number of voters, namely 3,644,845, voted for the constitutional reforms, while 16,642 voted against it, KUNA reported.  

 

With regards to the referendum results for the Tunisians living abroad, the ministry of interior said that 98.14% of the total number of voters, voted for the reforms, while 1.86% disapproved.  

 

With this public approval of the majority of Tunisian voters, the constitutional reforms' process has become effective. (Albawaba.com)
