Communicating effectively with society members and reinforcing national identity
Dubai Customs visits "Watani" Program
A team from Customs Tariff and Origin at Dubai Customs visited a field camp for children on Thursday, July 30th, 2009 that is organized by Watani Program in Al Ebdaa School for Girls in Dubai. The team included a number of employees at the Department headed by Mrs. Hala Al Yousfi, Rules of Origin and Economic Agreements Section Manager.
The visit aims to reinforce effective communication and the national identity by involving the youth in UAE and fostering voluntary work in programs that support patriotism, help preserve national heritage and strengthen individual abilities raising highly effective society members.
Watani is a program that is concerned with social development and fostering national identity as well as proper patriotic manners for all society segments and categories. This project is part of a series of achievements in the UAE that have been perceived since the Emirates' union. It also seeks to deepen nationalism through development programs and events that comprise all aspects of life; social, cultural, economic and others.
The Program was launched pursuant to the directions of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The Program's events are carried out across the UAE by different activities that target all society categories; nationals, residents and visitors in order to confirm the national identity that is anchored by the solid Emirati culture and civilization and the prominent social and political systems so that genuine values in the UAE could be easily highlighted.
The delegation was received by a number of officials at the camp headed by Mrs. Tamima Al Naisir, Head of Activities and Events Section. The Dubai Customs delegation was informed about the variety of activities and events the Watani Program implements to foster patriotism among the youth and school students who take part in the Program.
The Watani Summer Camp for Children 2009 provides an atmosphere that cultivates great thinking and furthers children's education and different interests by investing time in an exciting approach. This will in turn benefit children since such useful and beneficial programs stimulate their creativity and equip them with several skills that aspire to further cooperation, teamwork and voluntary work.
Such events were launched on June 13th, 2009 and will proceed until August 6th, 2009. They comprise many specialized programs in cooperation and coordination with the highly experienced and specialized people in different fields: religion, sports, science, art and education. All fields strive to strengthen patriotism and the national identity and develop children's skills who participate in the camp.
This visit is inline with the Department's CSR initiatives and its vital contribution to all society members by making solid communication channels in order to be reached out at any location. It's worth mentioning that the Department has previously paid visits to many organizations in the community to support them; for example, visiting the elderly homecare centers and people with special needs. In addition, Dubai Customs participated in environment preservation, public health programs and the national employment programs as well as many other activities and programs that are held in the UAE.
