A technical committee from Jordan’s Finance Ministry, public universities and the Higher Education Development Project is examining bids for two major IT projects, which are part of a $74 million effort to boost higher education, the Jordan Times reported Tuesday.
According to Zaidoun Rashdan, higher education development project manager, four local and two US companies have bid for the a sub-project to supply universities with 2,700 PCs, while another six companies have also shown interest in providing servers, said the daily.
He said a committee would start examining bids early in June on a third tender to supply the entire IT project with networks.
The World Bank has loaned $35 million for the project, said the paper, noting that the remainder of the expenses would be covered by the government and universities.
According to the daily, the IT component of the project, which cost $30 million, has five sub-components.
