A committee was set up in the Kingdom of Bahrain on Wednesday to oversee the issue of entry visas to prevent any misuse of licenses granted to travel agents "in order to preserve the civilized image of the country while promoting tourism," the official news agency stated.

The decision was taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, who ordered the committee to supervise the implementation of entry visas and residency regulations and to curb violations of the law through on-site inspections.

The committee will be headed by the Bahraini Interior Ministry's Undersecretary for Immigration and Passports and comprises officials from the ministries of Interior, Information, Commerce and Industry and Labor and Social Affairs and from the Civil Aviation Department.

It is expected to meet periodically and present reports to the Premier on individuals and companies that violate the law.

The Kingdom recently announced several plans to attract tourists. However, high-level officials made it clear they are keen on developing 'family tourism' and they would not tolerate practices that contradict the social norms and religious values of the country. (Albawaba.com)
