Cognos announces MENA Preferred Services Partner
Almasa Holdings’ Performance Systems named Cognos Platinum Consulting Partner and Cognos Authorised Training Centre
Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business intelligence and performance management solutions, has announced a major regional partnership with Performance Systems, a member company of Almasa Holdings, which includes high-tech property development firm Omniyat.

The business arrangement, signed at GITEX Technology Week, makes Performance Systems the Cognos Preferred Services Partner for MENA (Middle East and North Afica) for its impeccable record in consulting and implementing critical and high-value Cognos solutions in the region.

Under the new contract, Performance Systems also joins the exclusive Cognos Platinum Consulting Partners club, a status enjoyed by only five other organisations in the world. In addition, Performance Systems is now the Authorised Training Partner with a full fledged training centre and an implementer of choice for this part of the world.

“This is yet again a clear indication of Cognos’ commitment to investing in the region,” said Derek Morrison, regional general manager, Cognos Middle East. “We are delighted to continue working in sync with Performance Systems, an experienced and well-respected partner with a proven track-record and a thoroughbred team,” he added.

Guy Rickett, Managing Director, Performance Systems, said, “For us, the bottom line is to enable our customers achieve their goals and targets while offering the best possible services.”

The new deal following seven years of business experience is not an overnight marriage of convenience. The mutual ability to attract big name customers and deliver results makes this a winning deal. A major oil concern that recently combined Cognos solutions with Performance Systems’ skilful implementation has already seen over one month’s worth of man hours freed up to be redeployed elsewhere in the company.

“The demand for BI and, more recently, Corporate Performance Management is sharpening our capacity to ensure businesses turn data into valuable information that can further our clients’ organisational goals,” said Rickett.

Both parties see continued growth potential and are gearing up to meet the increase in demand for BI and CPM solutions in the region.

For Morrison, the latest edition of GITEX is an opportunity to reflect on progress since his arrival in the region.

Since GITEX 2006, Morrison has overseen a five-fold increase in staff, bringing aboard new talent and skill sets from a wide range of business backgrounds. Cognos welcomes the partnership with Performance Systems as a means to service the needs of clients and client staff alike.
