A key aide to ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has allegedly been killed by a US air strike in Fallujah, according to Iraqi state television Monday.

Abu Huthaifa al-Yamani is believed to have died in the strike while the fate of Baghdadi remains unclear following contradictory reports of his injuries, Reuters reports.

Iraqi state television did not provide any further details about the air strikes and the Pentagon also said it had no information to confirm media reports of Baghdadi's status.
