Clemenceau Medical Center, the first clinical facility in Beirut affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine International opened officially today with a ceremony that took place under the patronage of the President of the Council of Ministers, H.E. Mr. Fuad Siniora. Attendees included Johns Hopkins Medicine International CEO Steve Thompson and his team, ministers, members of the parliament, corporate delegates, social figures, and press representatives.
The ceremony started with a speech for Clemenceau Medical Center Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mounes Kalaawi, who thanked all those who contributed in bringing CMC to life over a period of five years and presented a documentary for CMC that unveiled all the state of the art facilities and technologies that are available to service the patients.
“CMC has the facilities and services to cater to the needs of patients from Lebanon and the Middle East. Virtually, all medical services a patient might need – doctor visits, testing, surgery, and hospital care – are available “under one roof” at CMC”, said Dr. Kalaawi, “Our doctors have extensive experience in treating every type of illness, and many among them are international experts. A live transmission (teleconference) from Baltimore (United States) with Dr. Edward Miller, CEO, Johns Hopkins Medicine and Dean of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, took place with Mr. Steve Thompson, Senior Vice President for Johns Hopkins Medicine and Chief Executive Officer for Johns Hopkins Medicine International, who was present at the ceremony.
Mr. Maher Abou Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated: “During the civil war, Lebanon did not witness the establishment of a new hospital such as Clemenceau Medical Center. Therefore, we wanted to provide high quality care that is unique to Lebanon and the region and to bring back Lebanese experts from abroad”.
