Tunisia has emerged in recent years as an attractive tourist destination because of its political stability, modern tourism facilities and beautiful beaches.

To preserve this charm, the authorities have announced a new national drive to clean the country's shores this summer. This campaign will cover 81 shores (150 km.). It will require the equivalent of 20,000 working days at a cost of TD1.5 million. This compares with last year's plan, which included 38 shores and a total cost of TD190,000.

The Health Ministry plans also to check the quality of sea water and sand in 106 stations scattered across this North African state, al Hurriya daily reports.
