A |fierce battle erupted in Gaza signaling and end to what appeared to be at the beginning of the day a fragile understanding between Palestinians and Israelis to restore calm. Clashes began anew and have increased with the progression of the day, according to reports.
Near the Netzarim junction in Gaza, the Israeli military used helicopter gunships and fired two air to surface missiles at crowds of Palestinian demonstrators, said CNN. Al Jazira satellite channel reported that half a dozen Palestinians were injured, some critically, details of the fighting were sketchy, but a CNN reporter on the sight described the situation as very dangerous.
Major clashes were also taking place around Joseph Tomb in Nablus, where 17 Palestinians have been injured, four critically.
In Ramallah, thirty have been injured, one critically. Similar clashes were reported in Tulkarem and Hebron as well.
