ALBAWABA- In a significant development, recent reports reveal that Saudi Arabia is exploring a Chinese proposal to construct a nuclear power station in close proximity to its eastern borders with Qatar and the UAE.

This coincides with the Chinese Ministry of Defense's announcement of upcoming joint maritime exercises with Saudi Arabia, known as "Blue Sword 2023," set to commence next month in Guangdong province, southern China.

The exercises will emphasize collaborative efforts in overseas counter-terrorism maritime operations, sniper tactics, boat and helicopter landing commands, and joint rescue operations.

The primary objective is to deepen practical and amicable cooperation between the two armed forces, elevating their practical training proficiency.

This initiative follows the inaugural joint maritime exercises between Saudi Arabia and China in 2019, emphasizing the exchange of experiences, capability development in combating maritime terrorism and piracy, and enhancing training and combat readiness.

China aims to bolster its relationship with Saudi Arabia, a key influencer in the improving ties between Iran and the Kingdom, evidenced by the normalization agreement signed in Beijing in March of the preceding year.
