ALBAWABA- China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday the imposition of sanctions against two US companies, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems and General Dynamics Land Systems, in response to their alleged support for arms sales to Taiwan.
The decision, effective immediately, includes measures such as freezing assets, including movables and real estate, within China's territory, as well as imposing restrictions on visas and entry for senior personnel associated with the sanctioned companies.
According to filings, General Dynamics operates six Gulfstream and jet aviation service operations in China. Despite China's efforts to develop its aerospace industry, it still heavily depends on foreign technology.
Additionally, General Dynamics contributes to the production of the Abrams tank, which Taiwan is acquiring to modernize its armored forces against potential threats from China.
