A rocket fired from Yemen killed a child of 11 years and wounded nine members of his family on Sunday. The rocket hit the family home located on the border region of Saudi Arabia, civil defence authorities said.
The child died instantly while the family was rushed to hospital, according to reports provided by Lieutenant Colonel Ali bin Omair al-Shahrani, quoted by the official SPA news agency.
Cross-border rocket attacks by the Houthi rebels in Yemen have intensified since late last year.
Approximately 90 people, both civilians and soldiers, have died from shelling and conflict in the Saudi border region since March when a Saudi-led military campaign began airstrikes on Yemen and ground forces moved in.
The Saudi forces are supporting the embattled Yemeni president and his government with the aim to oust Houthi rebels who had taken over the capital Sanaa.
In Yemen, over 5,800 people have been killed since March, about half of them civilians, and more than 27,000 wounded, according to the United Nations.
