In celebration of Earth Month, Frigidaire offers energy-saving tips for using household appliances
Haider Murad and Sons Investment Group is the sole distributor for Frigidaire in Jordan
In celebration of Earth Month in April and Earth Day on April 22 around the world, Frigidaire is providing energy-saving appliance tips for consumers to save money on their electric bills. Through the new program 'Frigidaire Cares', Frigidaire has pledged to reduce energy use by 15% in 2009. It has also committed to introducing as many environmentally-friendly features as possible in its products and to educating consumers on ways to reduce energy consumption. Haider Murad and Sons Investment Group, Jordan's authorized distributor for Frigidaire household appliances, is pleased to be associated with this program.
Issa Murad, Group General Manager of Haider Murad and Sons Investment Group said, “Buying earth friendly Frigidaire products makes sense not only for the environment but also for the consumer in the form of lower electric bills. Consumers can take many simple steps to save energy while using their household appliances. For instance, many appliances continue to draw standby power when switched off, contributing up to 10 percent of household electricity use. When not in use, turn appliances off, preferably at the power outlet."
In line with the 'Frigidaire Cares' Program, Frigidaire is also highlighting numerous refrigerator features from its North American Premier Collection Refrigerators that are earth-friendly.
Mr. Murad added, "The new refrigerator models from Frigidaire are much more energy efficient and can save you more money in utility expenses over the life of the appliance than the cost of a new refrigerator."
Frigidaire’s line of North American manufactured top-mount and side-by-side refrigerators have earned an “A+” or “A” Energy rating based on the European Energy Class System. These ratings indicate the most energy-efficient appliances based on a calculation of kilowatt per hour per program energy consumption. “A” rated appliances are 27% more energy efficient than “B” rated ones, while “A+” rated appliances are 24% more energy efficient than “A” rated models.
Helpful energy-saving appliance tips for consumers include:
Washers
• Wash full loads of laundry to make your machine more efficient.
• Use cold water whenever possible since 90 percent of the energy used for washing clothes comes from heating the water.
Refrigerators
• Keep your refrigerator out of direct sunlight, away from your cooker, heater and dishwasher, and in as cool of a location as possible.
• Try to minimize the number of times you open the refrigerator door by deciding what you want beforehand. Every time you open the door, you increase energy consumption by 10 percent.
• Avoid placing hot food in the refrigerator as it will require more energy to cool.
• Make sure the door gasket is clean and in good condition. It should hold a piece of paper tightly in place when shut.
• Set your refrigerator compartment between 2 and 4 degrees Celsius for optimal food storage and energy conservation. If your refrigerator does not have electronic temperature controls, place a thermometer inside to monitor the temperature. Set the freezer compartment between -18 and -15 degrees Celsius.
