ALBAWABA- Ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas have hit a roadblock due to ongoing Israeli military operations in Rafah, according to sources familiar with the talks.
An American source, speaking to Al Jazeera, revealed that the ceasefire discussions have been temporarily halted in light of Israel's invasion of the Rafah crossing.
Additionally, it was reported that the Hamas delegation has traveled to Doha, while the delegations of Israel and Qatar have left Egypt.
Furthermore, the CIA director, who was involved in the negotiations, is en route from Cairo to the United States as planned.
Meanwhile, an Israeli Broadcasting Authority correspondent, citing a political source, disclosed that the Israeli delegation has departed Cairo and is returning to Israel.
The situation remains tense as efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement face significant challenges and Israeli disregard amidst the ongoing military operations in Rafah.
Last Monday, Hamas agreed to the Qatari-Egyptian ceasefire agreement with Israel. Ismail Hanyeah, Chief of Hamas's Political Bureau, confirmed the acceptance to Qatar and Egypt.
The Israeli government escalated the situation by storming the Rafah Crossing just hours after Hamas accepted the ceasefire proposal. Many view this move as a challenge to the mediators and international resolutions aimed at ending the Israeli aggression in Gaza.
This comes after more than seven months of unprecedented atrocities, resulting in the deaths of over 35,000 Palestinians, injuries to 80,000 civilians, and the destruction of Gaza's infrastructure.
