At least two people were injured Thursday when a suicide car bomb exploded outside the home of the security chief in Yemen's Aden, Reuters reported.
The attack, targeting Shelal Ali Shayyeh, the security chief, took place after security guards fired on the attacker, whose car then exploded.
Aden, the temporary seat of Yemen's internationally recognized government, has seen a period of relative calm following gains made by Yemeni and Emirati forces against al-Qaeda militants in nearby towns.
