A car bomb rammed into a civilian convoy along Baghdad's airport road Wednesday, police said. According to The AP, quoting police officer Hussain Ali at the Ameel police station in Baghdad, the convoy was set on fire, along with another vehicle driving by.
U.S. forces sealed off the area and helicopters were seen hovering over the scene of the attack.
Elsewhere, a mortar attack early Wednesday hit the police headquarters of Diyala province in the central Iraqi city of Baqouba, though no casualties were reported, police said. Late Tuesday, gunmen had attacked the building, and there was a short gunfight with police officers. No one was injured in that incident, said a policeman.
Al-Jazeera reported Wednesday morning that an Iraqi child was killed and that three others were injured in the area of Jurf al-Malh in Baqouba by the American gunfire Tuesday night.
In the city of Al-Ramadi, skirmishes have taken place between gunmen spread throughout the city and the US forces, who are stationed at the governorate building. (albawaba.com)
