The Capital Club, the flagship Club of Signature Clubs International located within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), last week hosted a glittering evening to celebrate the closing of the gold founder membership of what is set to be the region’s most prestigious private members’ club.

Taking place at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers, the Capital Club’s inaugural event for its members was hosted by representatives from the Capital Club’s board of governors, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Omar bin Sulaiman, Governor, DIFC.  With its facilities set for completion later in 2007, the Capital Club has already exceeded its anticipated gold founder membership by more than 30 percent.

In his welcoming remarks, H.E. Dr. Omar bin Sulaiman said, “We at the DIFC were delighted at the inception of The Capital Club because it addresses an important social and cultural demand within our community.  The concept of a private business club is similar to the majlis – a place where like-minded people can meet, talk, and balance their professional and personal aspirations.”

During the inaugural reception and dinner, more than 350 decision-makers from some of the UAE’s leading businesses received a first-hand look at the floor plans and ‘mood boards’ for the décor of the Capital Club, while enjoying innovative entertainment from “Sandman” – the artist Cako, who creates art installations using light and sand as his media.

Commenting on the event, Guy Guillemard, Chief Executive of Signature Clubs International, said: “”Our first major event for members demonstrates the Capital Club’s mission to become an exclusive meeting place for leaders of the UAE’s business community.”

Signature Clubs International plans to open a network of prestigious business clubs across the Middle East and the subcontinent.
