ALBAWABA - The Canadian police revealed that one lost their life and 15 others were held by the authorities during the past three weeks after attempting to cross the border from the United States.

On Wednesday, police in Canada confirmed that it is trying to protect and secure its border following an order by US President Donald Trump to track down and deport illegal migrants from the country, Reuters reported Thursday.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Assistant Commissioner Lisa Moreland told the press that many people from various nationalities attempted to enter Canada despite its harsh weather.

Since Trump retook office on Jan. 20, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested over 3,500 unauthorised immigrants, American media revealed.

The Trump administration has used US military aircraft to deport illegal migrants to their countries of origin or third nations.

According to estimates by the Pew Research Center, about 11 million unauthorised immigrants are living in the US.
