A new UAE-owned documentary TV channel, E-Xplor, will be officially launched Wednesday, making UAE's digital cable television system, packages a network of 65 home entertainment and news channels, Gulf News reported.
It also plans to add a range of entertainment channels this year, said the paper, noting that the E-Vision which was launch last month and dedicated to children, is accessible to 20,000 households in certain areas across the UAE and will be the second fully owned channel by Emirates Cable TV and Multimedia.
Humaid Rashid Sahoo, Chief Executive of E-Vision, was quoted by the daily as saying, "the variety and diversity of the quality programs shown on E-Xplor will appeal to all customers who will be able to enjoy finding out more about the world around us.
The E-Xplor channel is aimed at viewers 12 and older. The documentaries will be broadcast in English with Arabic subtitles from 5pm to midnight on weekdays, and from 3pm to midnight on weekends. It will show quality documentary and life-style programs, sourced from internationally reputed producers worldwide, including BBC World, UK Channel 4, Beta Films, WGBH, Southern Star and Itel, including other program like art, science, history, personalities, travel, wildlife, technology, home and décor -- Albawaba.com
