US President George W Bush plans to dispatch an envoy to Seoul early next month for talks with president-elect Roh Moo-Hyun aimed at defusing the escalating North Korean nuclear crisis, an official said.

"President Bush will send his envoy early next month to Seoul," Roh's Spokesman Lee Nak-Yeon told journalists. According to Lee, Roh will then send his own envoy to Washington, adding the US envoy would most likely be James Kelly, US assistant secretary of state for East Asia and Pacific affairs.
