US President George W. Bush on Saturday warned of more serious violence to come in Iraq before a power transfer on June 30.

A year after giving a controversial speech declaring major combat over in Iraq, Bush said: "One year later, despite many challenges, life for the Iraqi people is a world away from the cruelty and corruption of Saddam's regime."

"On the ground in Iraq, we have serious and continuing challenges," Bush conveyed in his weekly radio address to the nation.

Meanwhile, a U.S. soldier was killed in a roadside bombing and two U.S. sailors died while conducting operations in Iraq's central Anbar province, the U.S. military said Saturday.

The soldier was killed Saturday morning when a roadside bomb went off near a convoy south of Qarrayah, some 70 kilometers from the northern city of Mosul, the U.S. military said in a statement, cited by The AP.

Two other soldiers were injured in the attack, it added.

The two sailors were killed Friday "while conducting operations against anti-coalition forces" in Anbar province, the military said.

The sailors were assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, the military said in a statement. It should be noted that the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force is based throughout Anbar province and has been the main force involved in the siege of Fallujah. (Albawaba.com)
