A passenger bus in the northern part of Algeria swerved to avoid an oncoming car and subsequently plunged into a ravine, killing 19 people, news reports said on Saturday.
An estimated 20 others were wounded during the crash, which occurred Thursday in the Ain Defla region, 160 kilometers west of Algiers, the Liberte paper reported.
The bus driver was trying to avoid colliding with an oncoming car, when his breaks apparently malfunctioned and he lost control of the vehicle. The accident occurred in a mountainous location, known for its dangerous roads where several fatal crashes have occurred. (Albawaba.com)
