Buffalo launches the new TERASTATION™ DUO – dual drive storage device with raid capability for the SMB market

New NAS device offers flexible power management, saving up to 66% and reducing CO2 omissions

Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of storage, wireless networking and memory solutions, has introduced the Buffalo TeraStation™ Duo, its first dual drive Network Attached Storage (NAS) device with RAID capability and high speed data transfer up to 65MB/s for the SMB sector.

“Fault tolerant, reliable data storage is not widely available for the SMB and SOHO market and [Buffalo] are pleased to be one of the first to introduce an improved TeraStation with dual drive that offers just that,” pointed out Jasem Al Roomi, Director at Buffalo Advantec. “It is the perfect solution for the home office or small to medium business that need large, easy-to-deploy, easy-to-manage, redundant network attached storage.”

With RAID 1 and Hot Swap functionality, if a drive does fail, the new TeraStation™ Duo automatically powers down the faulty drive, enabling users to safely remove and replace without losing any data or down time. In addition, its real time replication function allows the connection of a second TeraStation Duo via the USB or LAN port, replicating the data to improve reliability, fault tolerance or accessibility.

The new Buffalo TeraStation™ Duo comes with Schedule Power Management System for flexible power management, saving up to 66% and helping to reduce CO2 omissions. It also comes with WebAccess, allowing remote access to the TeraStation Duo from anywhere via PC, Mac or iPhone.

Other key features include:

Airflow: A controlled fan with a thermal sensor, with a high cooling capacity chassis
Disk Encryption: automatically encrypt the data to level AES 128 bits
Quota Management – prevent misuse of disk space by allocating the right amount of space by user
Supports NFS – can be mapped from UNIX so that a wide range of users can access the drives
Backup data held on attached USB hard drives via the USB ports
Active Directory Support – Simplify the management of each TeraStation
PC Interlocking Power Management System – for effortless power saving
Connectivity: Dual Ethernet for port trunking
Supports Apple Time Machine – Backup multiple Mac computers.
In-built DLNA Media Server, BitTorrent Client, and Print Server
UPS Support
