The British University in Dubai, one of the region’s foremost research-based institutions, has unveiled a diverse range of scholarships for students beginning Masters programmes in September 2006 aiming to encourage qualified graduates to consider pursuing higher education and extend access as widely as possible.
As part of its mandate, the University is actively looking to push the boundaries of research being conducted within the region in a broad range of disciplines. To further this end, its scholarship program is designed to attract graduate students from a wide range of backgrounds, to add depth and experience to its student body.
To this end, a number of scholarship will be offered for the 2006-07 year, including special categories aimed exclusively at graduates from key UAE educational institutions and international scholarships for graduates from India and Pakistan.
“Part of the success of any educational institution lies in attracting the highest calibre of student and in ensuring that the academic community reflects a wide diversity of people,” said David Lock, BUiD’s registrar and acting chief executive.
“The range of scholarships currently on offer provides a wide range of options for potential graduates, and will in turn help us to grow and enrich our student population,” he added.
Among the scholarships currently available are a number of BUiD scholarships covering 50 percent of tuition fees for applicants with confirmed offers.
Dedicated scholarships are also being provided for students and recent graduates from a number of local universities. Scholarships for 75 percent of tuition fees will be offered for one successful applicant from the Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University and the UAE University.
Finally, to extend and enrich the international student population, new scholarships are being offered for residents from India and Pakistan.
The deadline for applications for scholarships is 31 May 2006, although potential students are recommended to come forward as early as possible.
