British Prime Minister Tony Blair held a meeting with Libya's foreign minister Tuesday, the highest-level contact between the two countries in over two decades.
London said the visit of Abdel-Rahman Shalqam, which includes talks with Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, was a "major step" in Tripoli's journey back into the international fold.
A British Foreign Office spokeswoman said the visit was a "milestone in what have been steadily improving relations" between both countries.
The visit follows three-way meetings in London last week involving top officials from Britain, Libya and the United States. (Albawaba.com)
