At least one was person was killed and a number of others wounded in an east Lebanon roadside bomb Wednesday, the head of the Lebanese Red Cross said.
George Kettaneh told media he confirmed one woman was killed and 10 people were wounded, including a child, in the bombing on a road near the city of Zahle.
A security source told The Daily Star that the explosive device was planted on the Ksara-Saadnayel road near the southern entrance of Zahle.
The source said the bombing did not appear to target any political figure.
Photos posted on social media from the blast site depicted shattered glass across the road just meters from a major roundabout.
One woman, presumably the one who died, was shown with a white, bloodied hijab lying on the street. It appeared she was not in a vehicle when the device was detonated.
The body of the dead woman was transported to the Chtoura Hospital, Kettaneh said.
