Iraq's Deputy Justice Minister Abdel Karim Faris and other Iraqis were abdcuted Tuesday by gunmen in Baghdad, Reuters reported.
Security sources told Reuters the gunmen were dressed in black and kidnapped the deputy justice minister, another official and two guards from a vehicle in the capital's northern district of Banook.
There has not yet been a claim of responsibility, but Baghdad has seen a number of criminal groups conduct kidnappings and contract killings.
Last week gunmen kidnapped 18 Turkish contract workers constructing a stadium in Baghdad. The employees are still missing after Iraqi security forces identified an Iranian-backed militia involved in the abduction, according to Reuters.
