Reuters reports that Hezbollah bombed the Shebaa Farms border area in retaliation for Israeli shelling and the death of Samir Kuntar, a Hezbollah commander killed in Damascus.

Local Lebanese media reported Israel shelling Shebaa Farms, a town on the Israeli-Lebanese-Syrian border. Israel claims the attack was a preemptive measure to prevent Hezbollah from seeking revenge for the death of Kuntar. Israel is believed to have been behind the airstrike that killed him, though there is no official confirmation.

Hezbollah claimed the bombing attack and confirmed they were targeting IDF soldiers, according to Reuters.
