Militants opened fire in an attack on a hotel on Sunday in the Ivory Coast beach resort of Grand-Bassam. The location is known for its popularity with Westerners, and several Lebanese citizens were among the dead, according to Lebanon's National News Agency and Agence France-Presse.
"The attack was carried out by more than 13 militants, who arrived by sea at the targeted area and opened fire indiscriminately on the restaurants' customers, causing heavy casualties," NNA said.
The exact number of how many people had been killed or injured has not yet been reported. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the shooting in the former French colonial capital, located approximately 40 kilometers east of Abidjan, according to AFP.
