Al-Qaeda fighters in southern Yemen on Saturday captured and killed 15 Yemeni troops loyal to President Abed-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, according to reports from local officials and residents.

The sources reported that the militants seized the soldiers while travelling from the southern port of Aden to al-Mahra province in eastern Yemen via Ahwar, a city in Abyan province under al-Qaeda control.

The sources added that Al Qaeda fighters brought the captured soldiers to a remote area where they were executed by firing squad. Reports claim 17 other soldiers held captive were wounded in the incident but were believed to be still alive.
