A Molotov cocktail attack killed sixteen people and injured three more in what the Ministry of Interior (MOI) described as a "revenge" attack on a nightclub in Giza’s Agouza neighborhood on Friday.
The preliminary findings indicated that the attack was made after personal quarrels between the employees of the club and "others", according to the MOI statement.
The Molotov cocktails were thrown at the door of the club “out of revenge,” the MOI statement added.
Authorities were able to indentify two potential suspects involved in the attack, a security source told state-run MENA news agency.
Ahmed Al-Baqly, the prosecutor general of Northern Giza, told Aswat Masriya that prosecution has decided to maintain surveillance cameras at the crime scene.
“Legal procedures have been taken,” the MOI said adding that criminal investigation forces are also investigating the accused perpetrators of the incident.
