Brazilian furniture exporters will target high-spending consumers and a large expatriate base to further expand their presence in the UAE market. Some of the sector’s top companies will be joining the Brasil Trade 2010 matchmaking event to be held at the Intercontinental Hotel – Dubai Festival City from May 9 to 11, 2010 to pursue opportunities in the Emirates as well as throughout the Middle East, which has emerged as one of the new markets sustaining global furniture trade during the downturn.

Brazil’s furniture exports to the GCC reached USD 1.39 million in 2009, with many Brazilian companies showing heightened interest in the Arab markets. Middle Eastern trade with the South American country has been steadily rising over the past five years, with commercial exchange between Brazil and the Gulf alone jumping from USD 2.4 billion in 2001 to USD 6.3 billion in 2009.

“Clients from Middle Eastern countries such as the UAE, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain have become very promising furniture markets with significant growth potential for Brazil. The region’s strong tourism sector and high residential demand driven by a young and rapidly expanding population make it a key target for the international furniture trade. Brazilian furniture makers will capitalize on Brasil Trade 2010 to continue their shift towards this burgeoning market,” said Alessandro Teixeira, President of Apex-Brasil, Organiser of Brasil Trade 2010.

Brasil Trade 2010 will facilitate one-on-one meetings between Brazilian exporters and hosted and local UAE buyers. More than 30 exporters representing over 100 leading Brazilian producers and manufacturers will meet major importers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon during the three-day event.
