Syria's Minister of Economy, Amer Housni Loutfi opened on Sunday a new branch of the private Bank Syria and Mahjar.
Following the opening ceremony at Merdien Hotel in the port city of Lattakia in northern Syria, Housni Amer said that opening private banks in Syria "will contribute to the creation of a competitive atmosphere pointing out that the integration of the private and public banks will contribute to the activation of the Syrian economy."
For his part chairman of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce, Rateb Shallah said that the private banks play an important role in attracting huge investments and in the creation of job opportunities.
