The decomposed body of a Syrian national was found in the disputed Shebaa Farms where armed clashes recently raged between Hizbullah guerrillas and Israeli forces, Lebanese police said.
The body was evacuated Tuesday by the International Committee of the Red Cross from near the Israeli army post of Ramta, just across the UN-mapped Blue Line. A Syrian identity card bearing the name of Abdel Hamid Qarraf, born in 1983, was found on the badly decomposed body of the man who seemed to have been dead since early April, they said.
ICRC representative in Lebanon Henri Fournier confirmed to AFP that "we are evacuating a body from this place after having previously informed and obtained the agreement of the Israeli and Lebanese military authorities."
The body was found "beneath an Israeli army position very close to the Blue Line," he said.
Asked about the identity of the body, Fournier said "the identity of the person found will be revealed by the (Lebanese) police." (Albawaba.com)
