A boat carrying dozens of migrants, including six young men from the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, capsized Monday off the coast of Italy, a Palestinian official from the south Lebanon camp said.

The official told The Daily Star five of the men, all of them Palestinians from the camp’s Loubieh neighborhood, were rescued, but one, Mahmoud Salah Hamid, is missing.

The official said the men were headed from Libya when the boat sank near the Italian coast.

He did not know how many migrants were on board, but said the five Palestinians were taken to a hospital in Italy.
