BNY Mellon, the global leader in asset management and securities servicing, has adopted an in-house internship initiative offering newly graduated UAE Nationals work experience within the company. BNY Mellon is currently hosting two interns from the Dubai Financial Services Authority’s two-year Tomorrow’s Regulatory Leaders (TRL) Programme, which is open to all newly graduated Nationals.

This career development opportunity offers young Emiratis an insight into the skills and expertise required to perform and interact at the highest level both in local and global markets. The TRL programme prepares successful candidates to become financial services regulators, offering them both in-house training and coaching by experts from international financial centres and examinations from the Securities and Investments Institute in the UK.

Janet Johnstone, Managing Director and Senior Executive Officer, Dubai Branch at BNY Mellon, said: “We are proud to be able to offer young Emiratis the opportunity to enhance their practical knowledge and gain a valuable understanding of practices and workings within international institutions. The TRL internship programme reaffirms our commitment to serving the region and knowledge development within the GCC.”

Paul Koster, Chief Executive at DFSA,  said: “The DFSA's TRL Programme, since its inception, remains one of our most important strategic initiatives. The Programme is designed to facilitate transfer of knowledge and expertise from experienced international regulators to young Emirati Associates, so as to create future leaders in financial services regulation in this region.

“BNY Mellon is an important player within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), and we are delighted to nurture a partnership approach between the regulator and the regulated.  BNY Mellon adds real value to the Programme by providing secondment opportunities to our Associates, equipping them with a practical application of regulatory disciplines in a professional environment.”
