A bomb attack hit southeastern Turkey's Van province Monday near the governor's office and the headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party.

A bomb-laden vehicle exploded near the police station in front of AK Party building, injuring 27 people, including two critically, Van police chief Suat Ekici said.

Windows of nearby houses and storefronts were also shattered in the blast.

Police and ambulances are currently at the scene and firefighters are working to extinguish a fire caused by the blast.

Turkey’s southeast has been witnessing several bombings and other attacks since last year, when the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) withdrew from a ceasefire agreement with the Turkish government.
