British Prime Minister Tony Blair warned on Friday that the war to topple Iraqi President Saddam Hussein will take time and have its "tough and difficult moments."
The British leader said in it would take time to "prise the grip of Saddam off the country when it's been there for over 20 years".
"When you've had a whole series of security services repressing the local people, it was never going to be a situation these people were simply going to give up power and go away," he added.
"Now what we need to do is to try and make sure that we have as representative a system of government as possible and that's something we need to work out with the UN."
The PM predicted a UN Security Council resolution mobilizing humanitarian relief for Iraq would be passed within 24 hours.
In an interview with BBC Radio, he also said there were "real links" between terrorist groups and rogue states over weapons of mass destruction. (Albawaba.com)
