ALBAWABA — Citing three unidentified sources, Axios revealed that Senior Biden advisers will visit Israel later this week to try to establish a ceasefire and end the war in Lebanon.
U.S. President Joe Biden's senior advisers Amos Hochstein and Brett McGurk will arrive in Israel on Thursday to try to finalize a deal between Israel and Hezbollah to end the war in Lebanon.
According to the report, Hochstein and McGurk are anticipated to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer.
Axios reporter Barak Ravid said that the Israeli Prime Minister was set to hold a meeting with top officials and ministers to discuss a diplomatic solution to the war in Lebanon.
Officials believe that Hezbollah might be willing to cut ties with Hamas in Gaza following a series of major blows the movement faced in the past couple of weeks in Lebanon, including the killing of its Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, the Axios report said.
Earlier this week conflicted reports emerged of Hochstein being already in Israel to discuss a solution for the ongoing war, which were later debunked by an X user reportedly belonging to Hochstein later denied the report and said he was still in Washington.
On September 23, Israel drastically intensified its airstrikes on Lebanon, transforming the low-intensity conflict into a full-fledged war, causing devastation in southern and eastern Lebanon, as well as the southern suburbs of Beirut, with indiscriminate bombings and a "limited" ground invasion in the country's south.
Although pounded by Israeli bombings that have killed the majority of its top leadership, Hezbollah has fought back, killing dozens of Israeli troops since ground operations began earlier this month.
