ALBAWABA - Hamas has accused US president Joe Biden of breaking ceasefire agreements in Gaza. This follows Biden's suggestion that Hamas might negotiate a quick peace by freeing its detainees.
Hamas saw Biden's words during the last meetings in Cairo, Egypt, as a break from pledges. The group condemned Biden's statement as backing for the "Nazi" Israeli government's repression and genocide with US military and political support.
Hamas said that Biden's comments seemed to reverse the previous discussions, which Hamas backed alongside Qatar and Egypt's ideas. Netanyahu's administration is accused of attacking Rafah, Jabalia, and Gaza to sabotage the process, even though Hamas has shown flexibility and accepted the latest proposal in each negotiation session.
The statement further emphasized how Netanyahu's continued attempts to carry out genocide and his contempt for the lives of Israeli prisoners are shown by the rise in Israeli crimes in different areas of Gaza.
Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, had earlier said that Hamas accepted the ceasefire offers that Qatar and Egypt had sent on May 6. But when Israel chose to keep up the strikes in Rafah, the Israeli Security Cabinet made the decision to keep up the military operation.
On May 10, Hamas said that it will reevaluate its plans for a prisoner exchange deal and ceasefire talks in Gaza in reaction to Israel's rejection of the ceasefire agreements made by mediators.
As emotions in the area remain high and neither side is showing any indications of bending their views, the situation is still developing.
