Best practices in the region’s burgeoning insurance sector will be recognized on 2 April during The Middle East Insurance Awards. Now in its third year, the independently managed and judged award event includes 12 categories related to the industry sector, from best general insurer to the corporate social responsibility award.
“We have received more entries for the 2007 Middle East Insurance Awards than the previous two years combined, with submissions coming from across the Gulf as well as Egypt and the Levant. The increase can be attributed to two factors – the double-digit growth that the regional insurance sector is recording and the innovation of the companies operating within it, who rightly hope to be recognized for their achievements,” said Chris Shaw, Director, The Media Factory, organizer of the awards.
Hosted under the patronage of H.H.Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE minister of Finance and Industry, and judged by an international panel of industry experts, The Middle East Insurance Awards are the most credible accolades for companies within the Middle East’s insurance sector to achieve.
The previous year’s awards ceremony was dominated by Oman Insurance Company, which was recognized as General Insurer of the Year and Life/ Medical Insurer of the year as well as receiving the Training award. In addition, BUPA Middle East, HSBC Insurance Broker, Commercial International Life, Dubai Financial Services Authority, Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, AXA Insurance Gulf B.S.C and Cunningham Lindsey Middle East received honours in a range of categories.
The Middle East Insurance Awards 2007 take place alongside Insurex 2007, a conference which brings together the key figures in the region’s insurance industry. The two day event features exoert speakers and lively debate around the issues of corporate governance, medical and life insurance sector, broking, the growth of takaful or Islamic insurance, and the use of technology in insurance.
