Digital lifestyle leader BenQ has jumped four places to secure the No.2 position in the regional projector market, according to research from Decision Tree Consulting (DTC).

The research shows a marked sales increase over the previous quarter, when BenQ was ranked No.6.

The success is all the more notable since BenQ is a relatively new entrant in the global market for digital projectors. The company also recently secured the No.5 spot in the Asia-Pacific region.

Overtaking competitors Sony, HP and Toshiba, BenQ’s projector sales are particularly strong in the government and education sectors, with a number of significant deals underlining the company’s reputation for reliable performance, effective pricing and high style.

“The Middle East has been a priority market for BenQ’s projector division this year, and we’re pleased to hold the No.2 position – and a very strong market share – for the third quarter of this year,” said Manish Bakshi, general manager, BenQ Middle East.

“We have a number of new projectors ready to be launched over the next few months, including an exciting range of ‘Light Brigade’ mobile products, and we hope that they will further increase our stake in this dynamic market,” added Bakshi.

BenQ’s most recent offering is the MP610 model which employs DLP technology and, with a potential display size of 300 inches, has a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. It has a lamp life of 4,000 hours and, due to its relatively high contrast ratio of 2000:1, produces acutely defined colours.

“We have witnessed strong growth in the home theatre market which shows a direct response to modern projectors providing better-quality images and becoming smaller and easier to use, and importantly, more affordable,” Bakshi concluded.

The BenQ Group currently comprises 10 companies that operate independently while sharing resources and leveraging synergies among them.  The BenQ Group companies include AU Optronics Corporation, the world’s third largest manufacturer of LCD panels; Darfon Electronics Corporation; Daxon Technology Inc; Airoha Technology Corporation; Copax Photonics Corporation; Darly Venture Inc; BenQ Guru Software Co., Ltd; Philips BenQ Digital Storage; and Cando Corporation. 2004 revenues for BenQ Group exceeded US$10.8 billion.

BenQ Corporation consists of five main business groups and units—Display and Imaging, Networking and Communications, Digital Media, Computer Products, and Storage Business.  Although these business groups and units encompass a broad range of products, each retains a focus on providing consumer-oriented solutions designed especially for the digital lifestyle.  2004 revenues exceeded US$5.1 billion.  For more information, please visit our website at BenQ.com.
