Lebanese troops deployed in several mixed Sunni-Shi'ite areas of Beirut late Saturday and ended sectarian riots that left at least 14 people wounded and several cars and shops smashed.

According to Reuters, security sources said supporters of Sunni Saad al-Hariri's Future Trend movement clashed supporters of the Shi'ite Hizbullah and Amal movements with sticks, knives and stones in Ras al-Nabi, Mazraa and Barboor areas of Beirut.

According to Saturday's reports, scores of Lebanese troops fired into the air to disperse rioters from both sides. At least 14 people, many with broken bones or cuts, were wounded in the clashes. Some media reported both sides exchanged fire in some places but security sources said most of the shooting was by troops and into the air.
