Customs police at Rafik Hariri International Airport have seized seven kilograms of drugs during smuggling attempts into and out of Lebanon, the Finance Ministry announced Wednesday.
A statement released by the ministry said that customs busted an attempt to smuggle four kilograms of “white powder” into Lebanon.
On a separate occasion, Customs seized three kilograms of drugs packed in 20 envelopes and hidden in clothing in an attempt to smuggle to the drugs to Saudi Arabia, the statement said.
The seizures come during the Finance Ministry's ongoing crackdown on corruption and smuggling at Beirut airport.
The ministry also announced that a quantity of unlabeled food supplements and counterfeit products had been seized, and said the case would be referred to the Economy Ministry.
