Bahrain’s telecom company, Batelco, slashed the cost of international calls by up to 33 percent, reported the Gulf Daily News.
Batelco said the new tariff reductions would apply to both peak and off-peak periods and average 14 percent.
Direct-dial calls to GCC and Arab countries together with the Indian sub-continent are amongst those that will be cheaper, said the company.
The reductions will range from between 2 percent and 33 percent.
The company said the reductions mean that the cost of calls from Bahrain are now at an all-time low and among the least expensive in the region.
The latest reductions, which follow directives from Transportation Minister and Batelco chairman Sheikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, are the sixth in as many years, the company added.
They apply to international calls made from any type of communications apparatus, including fixed line phones, mobiles, facsimiles or payphones – Albawaba.com
