Following on from reports in several of Bahrain’s leading dailies regarding one of Batelco’s ex-employees, Abbas Mushaima, who is allegedly living in the garage of his father’s home, Batelco would like to provide the following information.
Mr. Mushaima applied for a housing loan in 1996 following the acquisition of land from the Ministry of Housing. The land is in Saar area (serial number of land 90/5285).
Batelco signed an agreement with Mr. Mushaima on 4th November 2000 to facilitate a Housing Loan through Batelco Housing Scheme. The address of the house, which was completed on 8th March 2003, is House No. 1387, Road 2138, Block 521-Saar.
Mr. Mushaima has already completed the loan repayments to gain full ownership of the house.
All paperwork is available with Batelco Human Resources Department to verify the above statement for any concerned parties.
Mr. Mushaima is one of the groups of Batelco ex-employees whose services were ended with the offer of a compensation package. The group have been offered BD 931,200 (nine hundred and thirty one thousand two hundred dinars) in total, as end-of-service payment. On average they have been offered 2.6 years of salary each.
Batelco has informed all 44 individuals that their share of the almost BD 1m payout is available for collection anytime. To date some employees have accepted and few are currently considering accepting the compensation.
